El Frontón is Europe's most powerful wave: a heavy barrel over shallow reef, at the foot of the Gáldar cliff.
Since 2013, Gran Canaria has been the world capital of bodyboarding. Every October the planet's best riders close out the world tour here — and it is on this wave that the titles are decided.

The banana tradition
The champion must hold, for ten seconds counted aloud by the crowd, a bunch of bananas weighing 50–70 kg together with a local cachorro canario cheese bearing the rey de bastos card. A tribute to Gáldar and its banana growers.
