Travel guide

Arrival: Fly into Gran Canaria Airport (LPA). Gáldar is in the northwest of the island, roughly a 45-minute drive.
Where to stay: Gáldar or the northern towns (Agaete, Sardina del Norte) keep you close to the cliff. Las Palmas is 30 minutes away.
Transport: Renting a car is the most practical option with gear. Global buses run, but a car gives you freedom on lay days.
Weather and wetsuit: October: air 24–28 °C, water around 22 °C. A 3/2 mm or 2/2 mm wetsuit is recommended.
The wave: El Frontón breaks over a very shallow, sharp volcanic reef. Expert only: helmet and heavy-duty leash strongly advised.
